I'm back tracking this one because it deserves its own post.. On December 20th, I was doing some Christmas present wrapping when I walked it to our basement storage area and heard a sound that should only be heard coming from a faucet.. Yep, you guessed it, we had water flowing down the basement wall... So we start looking inside, outside and everywhere (mind you, its 11:30PM by then). So finally figure out that we have ice dams on our roof in the front of the house. Great..
Of course, we we have them, everyone else has them too! We couldn't find anyone to come clear the snow and the ice dam from the roof so we had to wait until Saturday morning, in the meantime, water made its way even more though our bedroom closet, Alec room, the living room ceiling and the basement wall..
Long story short, the guy cleared up the dam and said there was about 10 gallons of water pooled up there.. Nice uh? We also had someone come to assess the reason for the problem. Turns out we have a really warm attic because we have our second heater up there and its not vented properly. We'll need to get that vented and we hope the water will dry in the walls so we can avoid having to get all the those walls opened and fixed.. Yep, Merry Christmas!
